Family Trip

A family US trip that fits a real calendar.

Weekends

Family US hotel weekends that are not a default theme park

Not every family weekend is Orlando. How to book a two-night US hotel trip with children — city, relatives, or a park gateway — without a 14-stop plan. 411 words.

Family travel marketing defaults to a theme park. Plenty of families want that, and Travelocity will sell it. Plenty of others need a hotel near grandparents, a soccer tournament, a coastal weekend, or a park gateway with short trails. Family Trip will not assume Orlando. We will also not build a 14-stop city scavenger hunt and call it enrichment.

A weekend is still three decisions

Can it move (sick child, weather, bracket play)? Fly or drive (driving with kids is a different fatigue than a 50-minute hop)? Which neighborhood or town is the weekend? Then and only then Travelocity. If you fly, a package might help. If you drive, do not add a flight to feel like you used the site correctly.

Beds before attractions

Two nights with a bad room is the whole trip. Read bed type. Request what you need. Parking, breakfast, and a bathtub are family facts more often than a rooftop. We will not rank breakfast. We will say: if breakfast is the only way the morning works, confirm the hotel, not the OTA amenity icon, which can be stale.

One neighborhood, two things

Park Week’s two-activity cap translates. A family city weekend can survive a playground and one paid indoor thing. It does not survive an itinerary that looks like a blog. If you want a park week, use Park Week’s length and hub. If you want a packaged vacation in the Orbitz sense, Package Trip. If you want a flight+hotel without the family-specific room problems, Trip Bundle. Use this site when the humans include children and the checkout default is Travelocity.

When to leave Travelocity

Opaque discount hotels: Book the Stay / Priceline, usually a no for families who need the building name. Named cancellable gateway: Park Stay / Hotels.com. Already in the Expedia app: stay there. Cabin with a kitchen for a week of sandwiches: Vrbo is a real product and not an affiliate hop on this site — Park Stay says when cabins win. We will not pretend Travelocity is the cabin company.

Checkout

Search Travelocity at /go/travelocity/, currently the public homepage over HTTPS. We may earn a commission. That does not change a rollaway policy. 4 Life Health Wealth LLC publishes Family Trip next to Park Week so a family week has an itinerary sister and a booking-desk sister. Neither sister is a mascot. Neither is your babysitter. Both will tell you when the calendar, not the package tile, is in charge.
